Open Access Policy

The Critical Patient Journal (RDC) makes its contents available in full in immediate and free open access, without embargo periods and without restrictions on access by readers, promoting the free circulation of scientific knowledge.

The RDC recognizes that open access is an essential element for the democratization of knowledge, the dissemination of scientific evidence, the promotion of innovation and the continuous improvement of the care provided to people in critical situations. In this context, it adopts the principles of Open Science, promoting more accessible, transparent, collaborative and socially responsible scientific communication.

All published articles may be consulted, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, referenced and shared, under the terms of the license of use adopted by the Journal, without the need for prior authorization from the authors or the Editorial Team, provided that the respective licensing conditions are respected.

The reuse of published content is governed by the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, described in the Journal's Licensing Policy.

The RDC's open access policy is aligned with the principles and criteria defined by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and with the international principles of Open Science.

The availability in open access does not influence, under any circumstances, the editorial decisions regarding the acceptance, revision or rejection of manuscripts, which are made exclusively based on scientific merit, methodological quality and the adequacy of the works to the editorial scope of the Journal.
