Editorial Confidentiality Policy

The Critical Patient Journal (RDC) is committed to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and protection of all information received and produced within the scope of the editorial process, ensuring that submitted manuscripts, review opinions, editorial decisions and other associated documents are treated in a reserved, safe and exclusive manner for the purposes inherent to the evaluation.  scientific editing and publication.

The duty of confidentiality applies to all those involved in the editorial process, including authors, reviewers, editors, members of editorial boards, technical collaborators and any other persons who, in the exercise of their duties, have access to unpublished information.

 

   General Principles

All information submitted to RDC will be treated confidentially and used exclusively for the purposes of the editorial process, and may not be disclosed, reproduced, used or made available to third parties without the express authorization of the Journal or its authors, except when required by legal provision or decision of a competent authority.

Access to manuscripts and associated documentation is limited to persons whose intervention is necessary for the normal development of the editorial process, in accordance with their respective competences and responsibilities.

 

   Confidentiality of Manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted to the RDC are confidential documents until their publication.

Editors, reviewers and other stakeholders undertake to:

        Preserve the confidentiality of manuscripts and the information contained therein;

        Not to disseminate, copy, reproduce, distribute or share the manuscripts or any part of their content without the permission of the journal;

        Not to use information, data, ideas, methods, results or interpretations obtained during the editorial process for their own benefit or that of third parties;

        Ensure that all documentation received is used exclusively for evaluation and editorial decision purposes.

The duty of confidentiality is maintained after the conclusion of the editorial process, regardless of the acceptance, rejection, withdrawal or publication of the manuscript.

 

   Confidentiality of Review by Rares

The opinions issued by the reviewers are confidential and are intended exclusively to support the editorial decision.

Reviewers should not contact the authors directly regarding the submitted manuscripts, and all communication should take place through the editorial platform and the Editorial Team.

The identity of the reviewers and authors will be protected according to the peer review model adopted by the Journal.

 

   Use of Confidential Information

Any information obtained within the scope of the editorial process may not be used for research, teaching, project development, preparation of publications, obtaining professional, commercial or academic advantages, or for any other purpose outside the editorial process.

Whenever suspicions of scientific misconduct are identified, the information collected will continue to be treated confidentially, being disclosed only to the persons or entities whose intervention is necessary for the proper investigation and resolution of the case.

 

   Information Protection and Security

The RDC adopts organizational and technical measures aimed at protecting manuscripts, personal data and other documents associated with the editorial process against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration or improper disclosure.

The processing of personal data carried out within the scope of the editorial activity is governed by the Journal's Privacy Policy and by the applicable legislation on the protection of personal data.

 

   Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence tools by authors, reviewers, and editors is regulated by the RDC's Artificial Intelligence in Authorship and Review Policy.

It is expressly forbidden to introduce complete manuscripts, substantial parts of manuscripts, unpublished data, review opinions, or any other confidential information on artificial intelligence platforms or services that may compromise confidentiality, data protection, or the integrity of the editorial process.

 

   Conservation and Disposal of Documentation

Editorial documentation will be kept for the period necessary to fulfill the applicable editorial, legal and regulatory purposes.

Reviewers must delete or destroy copies of manuscripts and confidential materials obtained during the review as soon as the editorial process is completed, except when their conservation is required by legal obligation or by the Journal's policies.

 

   Failure to comply

Failure to comply with confidentiality duties may determine the adoption of the measures deemed appropriate by the Journal, including the termination of editorial collaboration, exclusion from the reviewers database, communication to the competent institutions or other measures provided for in the editorial policies of the DRC.

 

   Editorial Commitment

This policy is articulated with the Peer Review, Conflicts of Interest, Artificial Intelligence, Privacy, Data Protection and Scientific Misconduct Policies of the Critical Patient Journal.

The RDC reaffirms its commitment to confidentiality, transparency, impartiality and protection of information handled within the scope of editorial activity, in accordance with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals of  the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
