Electronic Publishing Policy

The Critical Patient Journal (RDC) publishes its content exclusively in electronic format through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring its availability, accessibility, authenticity and preservation in accordance with international best practices in scientific publishing.

The RDC adopts a Continuous Publication model, making articles available individually soon after the conclusion of the editorial process, final review, pagination and editorial production, without the need to wait for the closing of the issue in publication. Each article is published immediately after it is ready for publication, contributing to a faster dissemination of scientific knowledge.

 

⮚      Version of Record

The version officially published by the Journal constitutes the Version of Record (VoR), corresponding to the definitive version, validated, edited, paginated and approved for publication.

The Version of Record is the only version considered official for the purposes of citation, indexing, digital preservation and permanent registration of scientific literature.

After the publication of the Version of Record, any changes to the article will be made exclusively through the editorial mechanisms provided for in the Journal's policies, namely errata, corrections, expressions of concern or retractions, always preserving the integrity and traceability of the scientific record.

 

⮚      Version Updates

The RDC adopts the principle of permanent preservation of the scientific record.

The Version of Record will not be replaced or deleted after publication. Whenever changes are necessary, they will be made through their own editorial documents, clearly identified and permanently associated with the original article.

The different versions and updates will be properly identified, preserving the transparency, authenticity and traceability of the editorial history.

 

⮚      Persistent Identifiers

All articles published by the RDC receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring their persistent identification, permanent location and interoperability with international indexing, digital preservation and scholarly communication systems.

 

⮚      Crossmark

If the Journal implements the Crossmark service, it will be used to inform readers about the current status of published articles, including corrections, updates, expressions of concern or retractions, allowing immediate identification of the most recent version of the scientific record.

 

⮚      Digital preservation

The electronic publication of the RDC is articulated with the Journal's Digital Preservation Policy, ensuring the permanent preservation of the Version of Record, the respective metadata, the persistent identifiers (DOI) and, when applicable, the supplementary materials associated with the published articles.

 

⮚      Editorial Commitment

This policy is aligned with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals of  the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), with the good practices of Crossref and with the international principles of preservation, authenticity and integrity of the scientific record.
