Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy

The Critical Patient Journal (RDC) promotes an editorial culture based on respect for diversity, equity, inclusion and equal opportunities, recognizing that the plurality of experiences, perspectives, disciplines, cultures and contexts contributes to the enrichment of scientific knowledge, innovation and the improvement of the quality of published research.

The DRC undertakes to:

●        To provide equal opportunities to all participants in the editorial process;

●        Ensure that authors, reviewers, editors and other collaborators are treated with respect, dignity, impartiality and equity, not being discriminated against on the basis of gender, sex, age, ethnicity, nationality, geographical origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, socioeconomic status or any other personal characteristics unrelated to scientific merit;

●        To promote geographical, institutional, disciplinary and areas of specialization diversity in the composition of its scientific and editorial bodies, as well as in the selection of reviewers;

●        Encourage the participation and collaboration of researchers, practitioners and experts from different national and international contexts;

●        To value different scientific, methodological, cultural and professional perspectives, promoting an inclusive, collaborative and respectful editorial environment;

●        Contribute to the reduction of barriers to participation in scholarly communication, promoting transparent, accessible, fair editorial processes based exclusively on scientific merit;

●        Encourage, where scientifically relevant, authors to adequately consider and describe sex and gender-related variables in the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of studies, in accordance with applicable international recommendations.

RDC's editorial decisions are made exclusively based on the scientific quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor and adequacy of the manuscripts to the scope and objectives of the Journal, being independent of any personal, institutional or geographical characteristics of the authors.

The RDC also promotes the use of clear, respectful and inclusive scientific language, contributing to ethical and responsible scientific communication.

This policy reflects the commitment of Critical Patient Journal to the international principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in scientific publishing, in accordance with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized good editorial practices.
