About the Journal

The Critical Patient Journal – Scientific Journal of the Portuguese Society of Critical Care Nursing is the official scientific journal of the Portuguese Society of Critical Care Nursing (SPEDC), constituting an independent editorial project dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the field of Critical Care Nursing and related scientific areas.

Published exclusively in digital format and under an Open Access regime, the Journal adopts a double-blind peer review process, ensuring high standards of scientific quality, methodological rigor, scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and editorial independence.

The Journal is independent of political, ideological, religious, economic, or commercial interests and is governed by the principles of editorial freedom, impartiality, inclusion, diversity, scientific responsibility, and ethics in publication, in accordance with the international recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and other leading scientific organizations. Its editorial scope covers all areas related to Critical Care Nursing, from Out-of-Hospital Emergency to In-Hospital Care.
