Policy on Correspondence to the Editor

The Critical Patient Journal (RDC) encourages constructive scientific debate and critical discussion of published works, recognizing correspondence with the Editor as an important tool for clarifying, updating and promoting scientific integrity.

Correspondence to the Editor may include comments, reasoned criticisms, requests for clarification, methodological observations or other relevant contributions related to articles published in the Journal or to topics of scientific interest in the field of Critical Care Nursing.

 

⮚      Submission

Letters addressed to the Editor must be submitted through the Journal's editorial platform, respecting the submission rules and formal requirements defined in the Instructions for Authors.

Communications must be objective, respectful, based on scientific evidence and clearly written, avoiding offensive, defamatory or disrespectful language.

 

⮚      Editorial Evaluation

All correspondence will be appreciated by the Editor-in-Chief or by a designated editor, and may, whenever deemed necessary, be submitted to editorial review or peer review.

Acceptance for publication will depend on scientific relevance, interest to readers, the quality of the argumentation presented, and compliance with the Journal's editorial policies.

 

⮚      Right of Reply

Whenever the correspondence concerns an article previously published in the RDC, the authors of the article may be invited to submit a response, which may be published simultaneously or in a subsequent edition of the Journal.

The answer should be limited to the questions raised in the correspondence and respect the same principles of scientific rigor, objectivity and institutional respect.

 

⮚      Changes and Publication

The Editorial Team may request clarifications, propose editorial changes or refuse the publication of correspondence that does not comply with the scientific, ethical or editorial requirements of the Journal.

The publication of correspondence to the Editor does not imply agreement of the Journal with the opinions expressed, which are the sole responsibility of the respective authors.

This policy is aligned with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals of  the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), promoting an open, transparent, respectful scientific dialogue based on the best available evidence.
